Captain Caveman Jello Shot Recipe

I came up with this drink the year Johnny Damon grew his beard. For those of
you who don’t know who he is, he’s a baseball player, and at the time he was
playing for the Boston Red Sox. I saw him on tv, and thought “Johnny Damon
looks like Captain Caveman”(70’s cartoon looks kind of like cousin IT) Then I
thought “Captain Caveman would be a cool name for a drink” not to mention
making people scream “Captain Caaaaaaavemaaaaaaan!!!! to get one would make my
job very entertaining for at least a couple weeks. OK I’ll shut up now, here’s
the recipe.
mix in a shaker
1/2 shot Absolut Raspberry(I think raspberry stoli tastes better, but use
absolut for the smell
1/2 shot Bailey’s Irish Cream
1/2 shot Chambord
1/2 shot Kahlua
shake well and strain into a pint glass
almost fill with cola and float 1/2 and 1/2
The drink got really popular and I had people making asses of themselves to
get one for about six months.
Later that year, I started making Jello shots for the bar I was working in, and due to the drinks popularity I was convinced by the regulars to make it into a Jello shot recipe. Here it is.

1 6 oz box raspberry Jello

1 cup boiling water

½ cup Absolut Raspberry

¼ cup Kaluha

¼ cup Bailey’s Irish Cream

¼ cup Chambord

1 ½  Cups Coke or Pepsi

¼ cup ½ and ½

Dissolve Jello in boiling water.  Add all the liquor and and ½ and ½ stir gently until well mixed. Add the coke and stir a couple more times.  Put in 2 oz portion cups and refrigerate 2 to 3 hours.

Raspberry Watermelon Jello Shot and Martini

Here’s something different, it’s a Jello shot recipe that got turned into a martini. Pretty cool, huh? I was making a batch of Jello shots for a bar I was working at, pretty early in my creative process. I tried a few of the shots when I got off work, and decided it needed to be a drink. I tried out the drink on the rocks first, but it wasn’t quite right, so I chilled it and put it in a martini glass. Drink or Jello shot recipe first? Don’t know what I’m asking you for you won’t be able to answer until after this is posted, so I’ll list them in the order I invented them in.

1 6oz box raspberry Jello
1 cup boiling water
1 cup Absolut Raspberry Vodka
¾ cup Watermelon Pucker
¼ cup Chambord
½ cup cranberry juice
½ cup sweet and sour mix

Dissolve Jello in boiling water. Add vodka, Pucker, Chambord, cranberry and sweet and sour. Stir gently with a serving spoon until well mixed, but stop before you get air bubbles in it. Pour Jello into 2 oz portion cups, and refrigerate for 2 to 3 hours until they set up. Oh yeah, I almost forgot, here’s the recipe for the martini I turned this into.

1 shot Absolut raspberry
¾ shot watermelon pucker
½ shot Chambord
splash cranberry
splash sweet and sour

Pour all ingredients into a shaker full of ice. Shake the hell out of it until the shaker is almost too cold to hold on to anymore, and strain into a martini glass. Garnish by dropping a fresh raspberry in the bottom of the glass and put a small wedge of watermelon on the rim of the glass. This drink smells fantastic if you use Absolut. I think it tastes a little better with Raspberry Stoli, but the nose part of the experience suffers greatly.

My sister had a kick ass idea while we were making the video for this, and I think she changed the recipe.  Instead of a 6 oz box of raspberry jello, use 1 3 oz box of raspberry and 1 3 oz box of watermelon.
