Chocolate Covered Cherry Jello Shot

Might be a little early for this because the chocolate covered cherries don’t really get popular until closer to Christmas, but I’m putting it up anyway. One of the bars I used to work at had me making Jello shots every week, and this was one of the best selling that I thought up.

1 6oz box Cherry Jello
1 cup boiling water
3/4 cup 3 Olives Chocolate Vodka
1/4 cup Dark Creme De Cacao
1/4 cup Bailey’s Irish cream
1 3/4 cup cold water

Completely dissolve Jello powder in boiling water. Add vodka, creme de cacao, irish cream and cold water. Mix well and pour in to 2oz portion cups and refrigerate 3-4 hours.

1 ½ cups Three Olives Cherry Vodka

1 ½ cups Coke or Pepsi

Dissolve Jello in boiling water.  Add vodka and Coke.  Stir gently until well mixed and pour into 2 oz plastic portion cups.  Refrigerate 2-3 hours until set, and then eat in such large quantities that you wake up with a massive headache the next morning.

Jello Shot Recipes, Mixed Drink Recipes

Raspberry Watermelon Jello Shot and Martini

Here’s something different, it’s a Jello shot recipe that got turned into a martini. Pretty cool, huh? I was making a batch of Jello shots for a bar I was working at, pretty early in my creative process. I tried a few of the shots when I got off work, and decided it needed to be a drink. I tried out the drink on the rocks first, but it wasn’t quite right, so I chilled it and put it in a martini glass. Drink or Jello shot recipe first? Don’t know what I’m asking you for you won’t be able to answer until after this is posted, so I’ll list them in the order I invented them in.

1 6oz box raspberry Jello
1 cup boiling water
1 cup Absolut Raspberry Vodka
¾ cup Watermelon Pucker
¼ cup Chambord
½ cup cranberry juice
½ cup sweet and sour mix

Dissolve Jello in boiling water. Add vodka, Pucker, Chambord, cranberry and sweet and sour. Stir gently with a serving spoon until well mixed, but stop before you get air bubbles in it. Pour Jello into 2 oz portion cups, and refrigerate for 2 to 3 hours until they set up. Oh yeah, I almost forgot, here’s the recipe for the martini I turned this into.

1 shot Absolut raspberry
¾ shot watermelon pucker
½ shot Chambord
splash cranberry
splash sweet and sour

Pour all ingredients into a shaker full of ice. Shake the hell out of it until the shaker is almost too cold to hold on to anymore, and strain into a martini glass. Garnish by dropping a fresh raspberry in the bottom of the glass and put a small wedge of watermelon on the rim of the glass. This drink smells fantastic if you use Absolut. I think it tastes a little better with Raspberry Stoli, but the nose part of the experience suffers greatly.

My sister had a kick ass idea while we were making the video for this, and I think she changed the recipe.  Instead of a 6 oz box of raspberry jello, use 1 3 oz box of raspberry and 1 3 oz box of watermelon.

Jello Shot Recipes

Cherry Cheesecake Jello Shot

This one is my last roommate’s favorite Jello shot I ever made up. It’s called a cherry cheesecake. It’s quite tasty, and the Bailey’s in it changes the texture of the Jello making it a little more interesting than your run of the mill Jello shots.

1 6 oz. box cherry Jello
1 cup boiling water
1¼ cups Smirnoff vanilla twist vodka
¾ cup Bailey’s Irish Cream
1 cup cranberry juice

Dissolve Jello in boiling water. Add the vodka and cranberry juice and stir until well mixed with a large serving spoon. Let the mixture cool closer to room temperature for 10 minutes or so. I added the Bailey’s when the Jello was still kind of hot the first time I made these, and it curdled. Add the Bailey’s and pour the mix into 2 oz. portion cups with a pitcher, or measuring cup. My favorite measuring cup for this is one of those that is used for separating the floating grease from chicken stock. The pour spout comes out of the bottom of the cup, I don’t seem to spill as much with them. You can actually use a wire whip to stir these if you want to cuz the Bailey’s is going to make bubbles in the Jello no matter what you do. Still no cooking spray in the portion cups. It’s Jello, it’s not supposed to be greasy. It’s not that hard to get the shot out of the cup with your tongue. If you do have trouble with it you need the practice anyway. Enjoy the Jello, there will be more later.
